Preparation time: 10min   |  Cooking time: 8-10min   |   Servings: 1 Butterfly how to make sandwich

My daughter made some cute butterfly crafts recently. When I looked at them, it made me wonder how to make a sandwich looking like a butterfly. Not so difficult in fact, my daughter was really into it! Healthy and yummy, it made her day :) The butterfly sandwich disappeared very quickly from her plate and she continued with her butterfly crafts…

Ingredients

  • 3-4 slices of bread
  • butter
  • yellow cheese
  • orange cheese
  • tomato and cherry tomato
  • ham
  • egg
  • surimi (crab stick)
  • radish
  • chive

Did you know that butterflies use their antennae to sense the air for wind and scents and their sense of taste is around 200 times stronger than humans?

Preparation

Butterfly sandwich step1 Step1

Boil an egg for around 8-10min. When done, cool it down in cold water.

In the meantime, prepare the bread to make the wings: from the bread slices, cut two big and two small ovals. Use a knife or a cookie cutter.

Spread  butter on the bread .

Butterfly sandwich step2 Step2

For the lower wings: peel the egg and cut it into slices. Cut two slices from the radish.

Cut the ham in the same shape as the smaller parts of bread. Place the ham on the bread, then a slice of egg and a slice of radish.
Repeat for the second lower wing.

Butterfly sandwich step3 Step3

For the top wings: cut the tomato into slices – take two big middle slices. Use a knife or a cookie cutter to make two hearts from the orange cheese. Cut the yellow cheese in the same shape as the bigger parts of the bread. Place the yellow cheese on the bread, followed by the tomato and the yellow cheese heart.

Repeat for the second big wing.

Butterfly sandwich step4 Step4

Place the butterfly’s wings on the plate, as shown in the picture. Place the surimi in the middle as the butterfly body. Place a cheery tomato as the butterfly head. Use a knife to make two small holes in this cheery tomato and insert the chive that will be the butterfly antennae. Enjoy!
