White cheese snowflake sandwich – healthy breakfast for kids

January 3, 2014 by Gosia

Preparation time: 5min | Servings: 1

If you are looking for an idea to make an easy and healthy breakfast for kids then you may like our snowflake shaped sandwich!

We made it recently, inspired by the weather outside. We’ve already had a few snowstorms this winter and a lot of snow, so my daughter played a lot in the snow. She was amazed by the shapes of snowflakes when it was snowing, so one day I have made her these cute snowflake sandwiches for breakfast. She loves white cheese and it happened that I had 3 different kinds of white cheese at home, so we used it all for our sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 slices of bread
  • white cheese (e.g. Philadelphia, cottage cheese, etc.)
  • honey, jam or maple syrup (optional)

Supplies I used

Did you know that snowflakes appear white in color despite being made of clear ice? This is due to diffuse reflection of the whole spectrum of light by the small crystal facets.

Preparation

Step1 Depending on the kind of cheese you use, you can either spread the cheese on the bread first or cut a snowflake shape from the bread and then put the cheese on top. I have used snowflake cookie cutter to cut the bread, if you don’t have it, you can cut star shape with your knife, that will work just fine too. Snowflake sandwich with white cheese step1

Step2 I have made 3 different snowflake sandwiches as I had 3 different kinds of white cheese at home, my daughter loved them all. If you want, you can also add some drops of honey, maple syrup or jam to make it even more yummy! This is really easy and healthy breakfast for kids that they will love. Enjoy!
