This beautiful Christmas tree craft was made by a class at my daughter’s school as their Christmas decoration. I found it really pretty and wanted to share it with you:)
I think this is such a great idea and can me made not only with kids at school but also at home with the whole family. Imagine you collect handprints from all the family members to build your own Family Christmas tree! How great could that be? You could add everybody’s names: your parents, grand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. and your kids of course! Each year, as your kids would grow, you could make their new handprints with a date and add them to your tree.
That could be a really great family Christmas tradition to start and a great way to keep a lot of memories. Imagine a great gift you could start to build for your grandchildren!
I think I am going to start our family tree for the next Xmas, as this year it is too late to make it. I will need more time to collect all the handprints – my family is far away and Christmas is in a few days!
This year, I made a different souvenir, felt personalized photo Christmas ornaments, that will also create long-lasting memories.
What you need
- colored paper or white paper that you can color or decorate
- scissors
- glue
- cardboard
How to make it
It is so easy to make. First, collect/make as many handprints as you need for your tree.
Use an old cardboard box as a base for the tree, where you will stick the prints on. You can either leave it as is or cut a tree shape (it can also be a large triangle to make it easier).
Arrange the handprints facing downwards and decide which goes where. Start to stick them at the bottom of the tree first, then work your way up towards the top, overlapping them slightly.
Have fun decorating your tree – you may add your own, personalized decor:) Enjoy!
