Little chicks, healthy food for a snack

June 17, 2013 by Gosia

Preparation time: 10min | Servings: 2

Little chicks snack was also inspired by my daughter’s school trip to the Agriculture Museum– the Farm, the same as Milka, the laughing cow sandwich we did recently. As I mentioned before, there was a lot of activities organized for the kids at the Farm: crafts, exhibitions visits, hands-on experience and of course a lot of different animals to see. Among all animals, there were cute chicks with their little ones. All kids loved them! They watched them walk, eat, drink and run to their moms when they felt in danger. The big discussion I had at home with my daughter was: who was first, chicken or egg? Have you already discussed that with your kids? They can be very creative with their answers! Anyhow, my daughter loved these little chicks snack made of boiled eggs and colorful pepper. She had the idea to add all the food grains and little dried fruits, saying that the chicks must eat something too!

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • slices of red, orange and yellow pepper
  • food grains and dried fruits of your choice

Do you know who was first: chicken or egg? :)

Preparation

Step1 Boil eggs for about 8-10min. When done, cool them with cold water. Cut pepper into the following pieces: 4 pieces for chicks’ wings, 2 pieces for their tails, 2 for chicks’ beak and 2 for chicks’ comb.

Step2 Make small grooves in the egg to insert all the pieces cut from the pepper. Place both chicks on the plate and add some food grains, such as sunflower or pumpkin seeds. You may also add a few dried fruits of your choice. We have used blueberries. Enjoy! Little chicks healthy snack for kids made of egg and pepper step2
