Simple origami for kids – how to make a paper turtle

My daughter has a cute collection of turtles, different sizes and colors - she loves them all! One day we have decided to make a paper turtle, which was really a great fun. She loves origami and all kinds of paper crafts, so this one was no different :)

If ever you want to go even further into the turtle fun, try our turtle sandwich! It is super simple to make and will be a hit together with this origami!

What you need

  • 1 piece of paper
  • scissors and colored pencils (optional)

 

How to make it

Step1 I have used a ready-to-use paper sheet, as I did for the origami penguin, origami bird and origami fish but you can start with a blank piece of paper as well on which your kids draw. You may want to help out and prepare a pattern, similar to the one I have used, so the folding is easier for kids. The grey lines are important as they indicate where the paper should be folded. First step, you fold the paper as shown on the picture below.

Step2 Continue folding as shown below, to shape the turtle head and the bottom part that will become its legs.

Step3 Flip it over and it is done! Super simple origami turtle:)
